The vineyards of Domaine de Marotte are located on the southern slopes of Mont Ventoux, close to the famous wine villages of Gigondas, Vacqueyras and Beaumes-de-Venise. Our wines are called ‘AOP’ Ventoux (Appellation d’Origine Protégée) and Vin de Pays de Méditerranée. From our Domaine we overlook the Dentelles de Montmirail and the majestic Mont Ventoux. Our company building – the chai – is located in the middle of our vineyards. In the background you can see the 1912 meter high Mont Ventoux. The name means: mountain with wind from all directions.

White
Our white wines are based upon the following types of wine grapes: Grenache Blanc, Viognier, Roussanne, Marsanne, Clairette and Vermentino. These wines are fresh and distinguish themselves with the aromas of pear, peach, citrus, melon, narcissus, and Apple blossom. The tastes are well combined and, have generate nice mouthfeel. Although we advise you to drink our white wines young, they can develop surprisingly well.
Cuvée Luc
The Cuvée Luc is an assemblage of white grapes. It is a fresh and complex white wine. The aromas of blossom, citrus and apricot are directly apparent, and when tasting this nicely balanced wine has a long mouthfeel. This wine combines excellently with asparagus, various types of fish, a fresh salad and even blue cheese.

Viognier
Our Viognier is a wine that explodes with aroma and flavour. You will taste ripe apricots, exotic fruits, melon, yellow flowers and even a hint of honey. It is a very concentrated white wine with important mouthfeel. It is ideal as an aperitif, but combines well with poultry, white meat or asparagus with eggs. The yield of our Viognier is unfortunately low, but the resulting quality is high.

Rosé
We make our rosés of the Cinsault, Grenache noir and Mourvèdre varieties. The grapes go directly into a pneumatic press, after which we ferment the juice at a low temperature. This allows you to taste the aromas of strawberries, raspberries, currants, vineyard peach and melon. Our fresh rosés not only taste delicious but also accompany BBQ meals and highly seasoned dishes.
Cuvée Jules Rosé
The rosé is quite special for the region. It is made from Mourvèdre and, a grape variety that is widely planted Bandol and Cinsault. To the nose, it offers aromas of red fruit like strawberry and raspberry, as well as some vanilla and laurel. On the palate, you will find exactly the same impressions. It is a full-bodied and lively wine with a long finish. Quite unusual for this rosé is the fact that it can be kept easily for about two or three years.

Cuvée Summum
Since 2015 we have also been making a sparkling rosé, which since then has been a huge success every year. The young rosé is fermented on a tank and has a very small amount of residual sugar. Yet, it remains a Brut type. The aromas are very fresh, and you can recognize young fresh fruit such as vineyard peach, white currant and gooseberry. The taste is wonderfully fresh and fruity. The aftertaste is very pleasant. In short, it is a festive wine to share together. Santé!
Red
For our red and rosé wines, we use five types of wine grape: Grenachenoir, Carignan, Mourvèdre, Syrah en Cinsault. Using these we can create the various assemblages. These wines distinguish themselves with concentrated aromas of dark fruit such as cherry, blackberries and blueberries, accompanied by the herbs laurel, pepper and Herbs de Provence. By the wines that have ripened in the barrel, the ‘wood’ taste is nicely in balance with the other aromas. Without dominating the ‘wood’ taste gives these wines an own character and slightly sturdier tannin. As result these wines can be kept up until 6 years, for those not ripened in the barrel it is advised 4 to 6 years.
Cuvée Niels Rouge
In the scent of our Cuvée Niels you can recognize both dark and candied fruit, vanilla, licorice and even some tobacco. The aftertaste is full and round. We advise you to first let this wine “breathe” to release the aromas. The Cuvée Niels tastes delicious with various dishes of French, Italian and Spanish cuisine. And slightly cooled, it is also a pleasant companion for Dutch dishes.

Vieilles Vignes Rouge
The label of our Vieilles Vignes is not the thing that resembles to our Viognier, the descriptions are also quite similar. This red wine is very concentrated and full of scent. You can smell the aromas of dark fruit such as cherries, blackberries and prunes. But the scents of vanilla and some oak are also clearly recognizable. The Cuvée Vieilles Vignes is developing slowly and is becoming more and more delicious. This wine is a nice accompaniment to various meat dishes and it also tastes great with a Dutch cheese plate.

Cuvée Eline Rouge
Our Cuvée Eline is the strongest among our red wines. Partly due to the oak aging, the wine comes out deliciously to drink. In the scents you recognize candied red fruit such as black cherries and figs. In addition, the bearing on oak makes this wine a nice companion of meat with heavier sauces. Our Cuvée Eline also stays nicely balanced with game dishes.

Cuvée Jubilé Prestige
We have made this wine especially for our 20-year anniversary. It is a wine from 100% Syrah that we have fermented in new oak barrels. One side of each barrel was still open for this. After the fermentation was completed, the grapes were pressed and then the lids of the barrels were closed. The wine then aged for 18 months in the barrels.
It is a full-bodied, powerful red wine that is already nice to drink but that it can also be kept for at least until 2024. The aromas of cherries, black currants, plums, vanilla, and something of mint and tobacco are best released if you decant this wine beforehand. The taste is strong with ripe tannins and the wine has a fine finish. The ideal serving temperature is 18 ° C. Bonne dégustation!

Wines selected by Daan & Elvire: Sélection M
Our Sélection M consists of wines from colleagues from whom we believe make beautiful wines. They are all wines with an excellent price-quality ratio. The colleagues we work with treat their grape plants at with as little products as possible. This is called ‘la lutte raisonée’. Some of them even work organically and others are in the middle of the conversion process. We select the wines in the caves and together with our colleagues we compose the tastiest assemblies. After this, these wines go directly to the bottler. Because there is no third party, we guarantee the best quality.
Sélection M Rouge
The Sélection M Rouge is made from Merlot grapes with a little Syrah and Grenache Noir. We regularly meet the winemaker of this wine at the meetings of Cave Particulières, an organization of winegrowers where quality and sustainability are more important than volume. The grapes from this winemaker will soon be labeled Organic. The wine is full – and even a little creamy – in taste. In the aroma and taste you recognize the aromas of candied red fruit such as black blueberries & cassis, caramel, a little vanilla and the fine notes of leather & fresh hay. Furthermore, the taste is nicely round with a delicate balance between the alcohol and the acids in the wine. The Sélection M Rouge combines beautifully with Mediterranean dishes and, for example, with a cheese board. The ideal serving temperature is 18 °C.
Sélection M Blanc
The Séléction M Blanc comes from a 7th generation winegrower. During the wine tasting sessions there were even 4 generations at table. This was a special experience for us. This wine is mainly made from Chardonnay grapes supplemented with Clairette and Vermentino. It is a fresh, juicy wine that is at its best within 2 years. Not only does it taste great as an aperitif, it also works great as an accompaniment to various salads, fish and white meat dishes. The taste is fresh with a nice balance between the alcohol and the acids. The aftertaste is also pretty pure. The ideal serving temperature of the Séléction M Blanc is 10 ° C.

The harvest season on Domaine de Marotte
We planted 28 hectares on our 32-hectare Domaine. In order to make the most beautiful wines, we harvest almost all our grapes manually. This is possible because we grow different varieties that are not ripe at the same time.
We normally harvest from the first weekend of September but the exact start of course depends on the weather in the summer. The harvest usually takes around 4 to 5 weeks.
Who are we looking for?
We prefer picking with sporty, flexible and enthusiastic people who can help at least 1 week – preferably longer.
We work with an average crew of 20 people. Of these, 16 pick, transport 2 empty crates and remove full crates, and 2 process the grapes in the cave. So everything revolves around teamwork.
We have a holiday home (gite) with a large courtyard where we always eat together. As a picker you sleep in your own tent on the lawn next to the gîte. There are of course sufficient sanitary facilities and there is a communal kitchen with all the necessary facilities. Because of the generally beautiful weather we live mainly outside.
We take care of the groceries and the food but the dishes are done together. We also clean sanitary facilities, for example, together with a cleaning schedule. In your free time you can use the washing machine and the spacious swimming pool.
What should you take into account?
- Unusual work for your back. The first 3 days are tough but then it goes easier.
- Your clothes become irreparably dirty and you can best wear sturdy work shoes.
- The weather is usually nice but sometimes it rains here. So take both circumstances clothing, including a rain suit.
- Grape picking is hard work but it is a special and unforgettable experience.
